Mr. Galang and the students of the Sacred Heart Catholic High School’s Integrated Arts Course did an incredible job creating four intricate murals for the Newmarket Food Pantry as a part of the Community Arts event.
This opportunity allowed students to showcase their incredible and unique talents while collaborating to make wonderful art pieces. This event helped bring together the grade 9 students and the local community.
The murals have been installed and are currently displayed in the Newmarket Food Pantry, representing the students’ creativity, talent and dedication to the project. These murals have become a source of pride for the students and their teacher, Mr. Galang.
“I’m proud of what our students accomplished here, especially because most of them have yet to experience large-scale painting,” said Mr. Galang.
This project fostered a sense of compassion and understanding as they transformed the utilitarian space, making it warm, vibrant and welcoming. This project also offered students a platform for artistic expression while they gave back to their community.
Please take a moment to check out the incredible murals, and together, let’s celebrate the talented York Catholic District School Board students!
